Guwahati: Akhil Gogoi -- Raijor Dal Chief and Sivasagar MLA -- on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19, along with his wife and son.
Taking to the micro-blogging site twitter, Gogoi apprised the same and urged everyone who came in contact with him to get tested for COVID-19.
Presently, Gogoi is in home quarantine.
''Finally, the RTPCR test has been revealed and I am COVID positive. Taking care at home and hoping to recover soon.
I urge all the persons who had come in my contact in the past few days to get tested. Take care. Thanks,'' he tweeted.
According to him, since Friday, all of his family members, including Gogoi, have been suffering from fever since Friday evening and after getting tested this morning both my son and wife tested positive for COVID-19. However, Gogoi's report was negative.
Following this update, he didn't leave his house throughout the Bihu celebrations and avoided participation in any programme related to Bihu.
Earlier, on January 13th, Assam Governor Professor Jagdish Mukhi was tested COVID-19 positive.
Later, he was admitted to Apollo Hospital located in Guwahati and is at present undergoing medical treatment as informed by the official.
According to reports, Professor Jagdish Mukhi was found infected with the covid virus on Wednesday 12 January following mild symptoms.
Governor Mukhi is under the supervision of a group of expert doctors from the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
